01 The challenge

What needed solving

A startup's Shopify-based setup couldn't support custom vendor workflows or scale past a few hundred concurrent users. They needed a multi-vendor marketplace that handles flash sales, real-time inventory and dynamic pricing without buckling under traffic spikes.

A custom Next.js storefront with server-side rendering for SEO and speed. Redis carries real-time inventory caching and sessions; PostgreSQL with optimistic locking processes concurrent orders safely; Stripe Connect automates multi-vendor payouts. Deployed on AWS behind CloudFront with auto-scaling groups sized for surge traffic.
