01 The challenge

What needed solving

A UK construction company ran procurement across spreadsheets, email threads and phone calls. They needed one platform for material quotes, purchase-order tracking, delivery verification, supplier management, workforce scheduling with GPS time tracking and invoice matching — with role-based access for admins, managers, workers and external suppliers, multi-tenant architecture, Stripe billing, and both web and native mobile for on-site use.

02 The approach

What we engineered

React + TypeScript on the frontend, Firebase across Firestore, Cloud Functions, Auth and Storage behind it. A multi-tenant role system uses custom auth claims for zero-cost security-rule evaluation across 25+ collections. Sixteen Cloud Functions run Stripe billing, SendGrid notifications, and the Gemini AI features — photo-to-estimate, invoice scanning, and a streaming construction chatbot. Suppliers submit quotes through a magic-link portal with no account friction. The entire backend was migrated from Supabase to Firebase — 20+ data hooks, 14 edge functions, 30+ pages — and the responsive web app is wrapped in Capacitor 8 for native iOS and Android with GPS, camera and push.
